Kindergarten students are working hard to build to build stamina. Sometimes the stamina we need to build at first is just being able to make it through the whole day with out falling asleep. However, these mighty learners are building reading and writing stamina and asked me to join them earlier this quarter for a writing celebration. Here you can see each student took time to share what was drawn or written in their journals.

A Huge Shout out to the Winston (KAW) Fire Department for taking time to share your work and equipment with us on Friday! Volunteers talked with and demonstrated important information for our elementary students, grades PK-2. Students listened to the volunteers discuss how to prevent fire, what to do if there is a fire and even checked out the equipment. Students also shared with them what we do at school when we have a fire drill.

For the month of September, Winston Elementary focused on the Character trait of Respect- treating others with courtesy and honor. Respect is always emphasized at Winston as it is also one of our Positive Behavior School wide expectations, however this month Guidance lessons also focused around the trait. Students are then selected by their classroom teachers and then rewarded for their exemplary display of Respect with a special breakfast.
